Shellfish are some of the most popular forms of seafood in the world but can be very misunderstood. Let Chef Jonathan help remove the mystery of these delectable, shelled jewels of the sea! Join us for tips and tricks for cooking mussels and clams, a demonstration on oyster shucking with live practice available, and a lesson on peeling and deveining your shrimp for the perfect shrimp boil! There’s a wide world of delicious, simple, and quick-cooking shellfish when you know how to handle them. After this class, you will feel confident in hosting your own oyster party and enjoying some of the most delicious shelled seafood items there are!
Dishes and techniques will include:
- Live oyster shucking lesson with recipes for mignonette and cocktail sauce
- Peeling and Deveining shrimp along with recipe and technique for making the perfect cocktail shrimp
- Classic Moules Frites or French-style steamed mussels with French fries
- Southern Italian Clams with fregola, cherry tomatoes, basil and soppressata
